Stem Cells and the Brain
One of the exciting areas in stem cell research is where it crosses paths with neuroscience. This intersection of the two research fields covers a wide range of interests: from the use of in vitro stem cell-derived neuronal cultures to better understand disease processes at the cellular level; through the transplantation of cultured stem cells to damaged areas of the nervous system; to understanding the endogenous neuronal stem cells that exist in the adult brain.
A number of researchers at Newcastle University, spanning this diversity of interests and applications, have come together to share information and techniques.
